Default DCR Twin Turbo Q's

I am curious as to how this setup works.

1. Are each of the cylinders devided off n the manifold so that flow only goes 2 cyl. per turbo? Or is it all open inside?

2.Are the flow patters ported out of the exhaust mani ports of no 3 and 4? It seems like they would route flow away from the second turbo if they were not ported out.

3. Also, I see that all the coolant is routed from one turbo to the other. Can anyone think of any adverse effects of drilling a hole for another return line in the block and running each turbo off its own set of lines?

Here are my thoughts, opinions..

Not divided, the manifold is still open inside

Not sure what you are saying here, but essentially cyl 1&2 feed one turbo, and 3&4 feed the second. not designed to have pressure from cyl4 come back to feed the first turbo....

I agree, and it's not the way I would do it. i would do banjo AN fittings but that also is much more expensive.

Since in a stock manifold, cyl 1&2 pretty much have a straight in shot to the turbo, 3 and 4 make a hard turn and there are upraised sections of the exhaust floor to direct the flow from 3 &4 to better route it to join 1 &2 and go into the turbo. When you weld on the second section of manifold for the 2md turbo, the flow patterns seem to me like they would still route flow directed towards the original turbo location.

I was at the dyno with LCR (who built my turbo setup) along with another local running their twin setup. Supposedly the potential is there, but I didn't see it as my big wheel S3 put down more than the twin kit did. Not to mention, the margin for error is so much greater with two turbos. The charge pipe on the passenger side kept blowing off, and it's a total pain in the ass to reinstall with what little room is left by having both turbos stuffed into that tiny space.

My opinion: you want a cheap, simple path to 400hp? Just get a 50 trim. It's been proven over and over.
